Britney Spears’ divorce lawyers, the firm of Trope and Trope, filed papers requesting to be removed as counsel. A hearing is scheduled for March 10.

Britney’s parents, Lynne and Jamie, were not fans. Trope and Trope bad a good relationship with Sam Lutfi, so that’s a big reason why.

Could this be the first step in the process to re-retain Laura Wasser, Britney’s former attorney who quit, and who Jamie reportedly wants back?

We’ll have to stay tuned, but TMZ reports that one of the things that went down in Thursday’s hearing involving Britney’s conversatorship is that the commissioner granted the conservators the power to fire her manager.

That being Howard Grossman.

Court documents show that Commissioner Reva Goetz ordered Grossman to turn over “all documents, records and assets relating to Britney Spears.”

Jamie Spears, with his attorney Andrew Wallet, is the legal conservator of Britney and her estate. While she is receiving treatment for her mental problems, Jamie may regulate her legal, business and medical decisions.

Firing Howard Grossman apparently is first on his to-do list.

Although the firing hasn’t gone down yet, it wasn’t hard to see coming as Grossman has a cozy relationship with Sam Lutfi - something we all know makes Britney Spears’ family (and us, for that matter) extremely uncomfortable.

After hearing startling testimony from Lynne Spears that Sam Lutfi drugged and abused Britney, a restraining order was issued against him. However, the seedy confidant has yet to be formally served with the legal papers.

Britney Spears and Tom Cruise, two of Hollywood’s most promising stars in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, have quickly spiraled out of control, leaving friends, family and fans concerned for their welfare.

While Tom and Britney continue to fight very different battles (Tom Cruise is letting Scientology control his life while Britney is fighting a severe mental illness), it’s very clear that these two stars had the world at their fingertips, only to let it slip away.

So who is the bigger disappointment? A 26-year-old struggling to fight the pressures of Hollywood or a 45-year-old father who is not only letting Scientology control his life but has warped his once-adorable wife into a robot-like woman who has little control over her own actions as well?

Let’s take a look at Tom and Britney in their prime:

Tom Cruise

Everyone remembers Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire, right? His charming personality and good looks melted the hearts of women all over the world when he finally said those three little words to Rene Zellweger at the end of the movie: “You complete me.”

His unbelievable good looks and incredible talent landed the respected actor roles in hit films like Risky Business, Top Gun, Mission Impossible (and the sequels) and Rain Man. But after Cruise started dating Katie Holmes and practicing Scientology he became a controlling (yet somehow out of control - remember him jumping on Oprah’s couch?) man who felt the need to tell others how to live their lives (Brooke Shields to name just one).

Everyone remembers Britney Spears as the pop icon of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Her adorable looks, energetic personality and innocent (yet sexy) image successfully brought the music industry to a completely new level.

Her hit songs like Baby One More Time, Oops I Did it Again and I’m a Slave For You earned her more money and respect than other young female in the pop industry at the time.

But after breaking up with Justin Timberlake, marrying Kevin Federline, having two children, divorcing Kevin, shaving her head, entering and re-entering rehab multiple times and now dating a paparazzo, it’s safe to say the former icon is spiraling out of control.

Two shining stars with so much brightness slowing fading away.

So who’s the bigger tragedy?

After having spent more than 36 hours in her house, something that we haven’t seen her do in a long time, troubled pop star Britney Spears went shopping in a black Escalade with tinted glasses accompanied by her Israeli bodyguard and later drove to the Millennium Dance Studio.

Britney did not leave her house throughout Thursday, though she did get a visit from her hair stylist, Kim Vo, who spent four hours in her house.

Kim recounted the details of his visit on E! Daily 10.

He said that Britney came through as calm and in control of her senses. At one point when he told her, “put the wigs away, this is crazy. You don’t want to be crazy” Britney laughed.

Britney’s cousin Alli Sims was seen driving towards her house Thursday but then inexplicably took a U turn and went back. Alli is known to be close to Sam Lutfi, Britney’s erstwhile confidant who is currently at large evading a restraining order issued Monday, February 4, from being served on him. The order forbids him from making any contact with Britney.

In other Britney news, the law firm of Trope and Trope has once again filed a request to be relieved as Britney’s attorney in her custody dispute with ex Kevin Federline on Friday, February 8.

Their request is scheduled to be heard on March 10.

According to court papers released Friday from the emergency hearing on Thursday, Britney’s father and conservator, Jamie, has been authorized by Commissioner Reva Goetz to fire her business manager, Howard Grossman.

Grossman and Sam Lutfi are known to be close. Britney had wanted Grossman and the Northern Trust Bank to replace Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet as conservators of her estate.

Something is looking up for Britney Spears at last – the troubled pop star has been voted one of Playboy magazine’s 25 Sexiest Celebrities.

The ‘Toxic’ singer has joined the likes of Beyonce Knowles, Angelina Jolie, Eva Mendes, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johansson on the list, named online by readers of the men’s publication.

Other stars on the list include Alicia Keys, Rose MCGowan, Denise Richards, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra.

Playboy boss Hugh Hefner’s girlfriend Holly Madison has also made it to the list alongside the tycoon’s other two current ‘girlfriends’ Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson.

Meanwhile Spears has finally been released from the psychiatric ward at UCLA Medical Center.

According to reports, the 26-year old singer slipped out quietly with the help of a private security detail and returned home after spending just 7 days in the hospital even though her psychiatrist, Dr. Deborah Nadel, had extended her stay to a 14-day involuntary hold till the next hearing of her case on 14th Feb.

Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears has been granted a change in conservatorship over his daughter by an LA Superior Court judge on Feb 7.

The judge has allowed a change in the rules concerning Jamie’s decision-making power over the troubled pop star’s medical, financial, and legal matters, reports Usmagazine.com.

Lawyers from both parties had a meeting with the judge behind closed doors, and it is not clear what was decided or discussed.

Jamie will remain the singer’s co-conservator alongside lawyer Andrew Wallet until Feb. 14, Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz ruled on Feb 5.

The decision came in a hearing in which Britney’s new attorney, Adam Streisand, claimed that the pop star had a ’strong desire’ against her father’s temporary oversight.

Streisand argued that Jamie’s conservatorship ‘would only cause further distress, agitation and estrangement.’
