The writer who profiled Britney Spears for last week’s Rolling Stone just cannot believe the audacity of Spears’ handlers. One handler tried to sell her Spears access for $2 million, editorial control over her article and the right to name the cover photographer, the writer said on CNN today. This handler is called Klaus, and the Rolling Stone writer, Vanessa Grigoriadis, thinks he is “just really naive” and doesn’t “understand the way that United States media works at this point.” After the jump, Grigoriadis’ full description of the cash demand and why she is, of course, dead wrong about the American media.

Grigoriadis made her comments to Howard Kurtz on CNN’s Reliable Sources:
Vanessa, you tried to get an interview with Britney, and you wound up dealing with one of her intermediaries, a guy named Klaus (ph).

In an exclusive intervew with E! News’ Jason Kennedy, Britney’s cousin Alli Sims said she was indeed denied entry to the pop tart’s place on Thursday night…proving it’s not just hangers-on but even Spears family members who are having trouble getting to Britney.

“It’s kind of true,” says Sims. “I drove up there for a minute because I had to go to another party [nearby]…I just talked to her for a second.”

In the only on-camera she has given in months, Sims told E! News at the People magazine pre-Grammy party that Britney is “doing well and everything’s going to be okay, and I love her to death and she knows everybody is rooting for her.”

Sims is optimistic that Britney will “get back to normal and balance out.”

On Friday Commissioner Reva Goetz ordered Howard Grossman to turn over “all documents, records and assets relating to Britney Spears” to Britney’s dad, Jamie Spears, who along with attorney Andrew Wallet, is the court-appointed conservator of Brit and her estate. The court also gave Jamie and Andrew permission to fire Grossman, since he is close friends with Sam Lutfi who has been ordered by the court to stay away from Britney.

Britney has been staying out of trouble thanks to the fact her father hired a new bodyguard for Britney, and a driver, which is why we haven’t seen Britney causing a huge scene everywhere she drives. To keep herself busy Britney has been spending time at the Millennium Dance Studio in North Hollywood this weekend, and she even got a hair makeover the other day. Was she going for the grunge look? The other night Britney was asked if she would be attending the Grammy awards, she said they could “kiss her arse,” in her best British accent.

Britney Spears’ divorce lawyers, Trope and Trope, have again filed papers requesting to be removed as her counsel. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for March 10. First they want out, then they fight to stay in, now they want out again. Make up your minds. It seems now that Britney actually has someone she can trust managing her life, suddenly the drama has stopped, and all the blood suckers are running for the hills.

WHEN is a Hollywood celebrity big enough to require special legal protection not available to little people?

That is the question facing the city of Los Angeles, whose officials are debating the implementation of a 20-yard “personal safety bubble”, to be created around celebrities deemed “paparazzi targets” when moving around the city.

The initiative was proposed last week by Dennis Zine, an influential politician, in the wake of the latest Britney Spears psychiatric emergency, when her ambulance was surrounded by police cars and helicopters to shield her from a crowd of 60 photographers.
