Chanda McGovern has given credit to Spears’ parents Jamie and Lynne for getting their daughter back on track, stating that, had they not interfered, the singer would not have recovered so well.

“We didn’t know if she’d make it through the next day and we’re all very proud of her now,” The Sun quoted her as saying.

“This time last year everyone was in turmoil,” she said.

McGovern also added that the problems could have started because of Britney’s attitude.

“She is very headstrong and doesn’t like being told what to do,” McGovern said.

“I hope she’ll never walk down that path again and I think she’s got a bright future,” she added.

To prove that her aunt was right about her, Spears was seen looking much better than before as she stepped out in Hollywood, without the scruffy look she usually sported.

She was spotted having dinner with billionaire George Maloof in Hollywood, and speculations are on that the pair are working on a career revival.

Besides turning her life around, the mum-of-two has also conquered viewers with her ‘How I Met Your Mother cameo’. The show became such a huge success, that she was invited back for a second episode.

Teen star Miley Cyrus has come to the defence of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears - insisting it’s “normal” for young stars to run wild.
The 15-year-old Hannah Montana star, who has come under fire for a set of racy photos published in Vanity Fair last month (08 April), is adamant the pair have “good hearts”.
Cyrus says, “Everyone has their time. And I think most 21- to 25-year-olds go through this kind of thing. Basically, they’re being normal 21-year-olds, especially Lindsay (Lohan). I mean, most of that’s pretty normal. If you went to most high schools, I could point out Britneys (Spears) and Lindsays.
“I guess that’s why I’m so adamant about the Britneys and Lindsays and whatever, because I know those people and I know they have good hearts and they’re just struggling.”

The troubled singer – who was recently given back some of her visitation rights to her two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline - viewed the five-bedroom, six-bathroom property yesterday afternoon (05.07.08).

The 7,300 sq ft mansion – which is not far from Kevin’s house in Tarzana - boasts vaulted ceilings, fireplaces, fountains, a spiral staircase, a Jacuzzi, a swimming pool with a spa, an indoor and outdoor dining room, a wine cellar, a family room and a designer kitchen complete with state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances.
Britney, 26, recently came under fire after allegedly trashing the $35,000-a-month mansion she rented in Malibu, California.

It was claimed Britney never lived in the mansion, but held parties there, which resulted in massive damage.

The source said: “The house was left a wreck. Cigarette burns and cigarette butts were everywhere - and empty bottles of wine were strewed about the place.

“Most of the furniture was ruined with stains, tears or nicks. Rotting food was left in the refrigerator. Spilled wine soiled the carpets and floors. No one picked up after Britney’s dogs, and many ‘presents’ of dog poop were left behind for the owners.”

Meanwhile, Britney’s pregnant 17-year-old sister Jamie Lynn has revealed the ‘Toxic’ singer has given some advice about parenting.

She said: “She told me, ‘There are going to be some long nights, but it is completely worth it.’”

Britney Spears is set to go head-to-head with Whitney Houston in a chart battle later this year - when both stars release their forthcoming albums in the run-up to Christmas.
Houston has reportedly been working on her seventh studio album since 2003, and has even called on R+B star John Legend and producer/rapper Will.I.Am to help her comeback record climb to the top of the charts.
But the 44-year-old’s chance at a dazzling return may be thwarted by the Toxic hitmaker, who is also set to release a new album this December.
According to reports, bosses at 26-year-old Spears’ record label are so impressed with her new demo tracks, they want her to rush out a finished LP this winter.
A label source tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “Britney has been on fire in the studio of late¡she is determined to make a triumphant comeback.”
Both singers have been surrounded by controversy in recent years, with Houston battling drug addiction and going through messy divorce with singer Bobby Brown, and Spears visiting rehab and fighting a bitter custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

I’ll hand it to those British journalists, they sure are tricky. Newly engaged, newly album released, and possibly newly knocked-up Ashlee Simpson was asked by a reporter what she thought “You’ve had one too many Britney Spears” means. Yes that’s right, in the U.K., having a “Britney Spears” is actually slang now. Instead of playing dumb – one of the few things the Simpson sisters are naturally good at – Ashlee went ahead and guessed - with unflattering results.

Whether it was a Freudian slip or not, the newly engaged songstress definitely let her opinion of the recovering mother of two be known during a visit across the pond this week… “In an interview the other day, they asked me what I thought, ‘You’ve had one too many Britney Spears’ means,” Ashlee says. “I was like, ‘What?’ And they said it means you’ve had one too many beers.”

Britney Spears surprised “Rock The Cradle” contestants Thursday night by unexpectedly showing up for the season finale to support her former manager and friend Larry Rudolph.

“Rock The Cradle” pits aspiring pop stars, who have rock and roll in their DNA, against one another. The finale, which was broadcast on MTV, featured Jess Blaze Snider, son of Dee Snider; Crosby Loggins, son of Kenny Loggins; and Chloe Lattanzi, daughter of Olivia Newton John. Rudolph judged the competition.

Spears spent the duration of the show seated backstage surrounded by security. After the show, Rudolph told usmagazine.com, “She was here to support the show. I mentioned to her that I was going to my show. She said, ‘I want to come down.’ She loved it. She really loved it. She didn’t come here for publicity or anything like that. She came here because she wanted to see the show, which I appreciated.”
