Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere has urged the media to allow troubled Britney Spears the space she needs “to heal”.
The star has accused the hordes of snappers who constantly pursue Spears of ruining the pop star’s life - likening their behaviour to that of an obsessed “stalker”.
And the actress believes the photographers’ behaviour is dangerous - insisting Spears’ recent string of car collisions is down to them taking high risks to ensure they get lucrative snaps of the star.
She says, “I love acting more than anything else in the world, so I can’t see myself stopping. But I think this situation is becoming so dangerous - it causes car accidents.
“There’s no differences between what they do and stalking somebody. Look at somebody like Britney Spears - who deals with 50 cars following her all the time - nobody gives her room to heal.”
And Panettiere is devastated the Toxic singer has fallen out of favour with music fans - because she was her idol growing up.
She adds, “To me growing up, she was everything, and we built her up and ripped her down.”

Kevin Federline’s attorney doesn’t grumble about the television trucks and news reporters swarming the courthouse every time there’s a hearing, or the paparazzi who hound the pop princess every moment there isn’t. And he’s certainly not opposed to the TV reports, tabloids and Web sites that have documented every shred of the case that has consumed him for the past 18 months.

After all, the attention has saved his side some major cash.

“If I had to hire an investigator or investigators to provide me with the intelligence about what’s going on, where they are, how are they doing,” said Mark Vincent Kaplan, “it would be north of half a million to a million dollars … as opposed to buying People magazine for $3.95 on Thursday morning or going on TMZ.”

On May 6, the 61-year-old attorney emerged from Superior Court in Los Angeles where, for the first time in months, there was positive news to report about the former couple’s custody tug-of-war: Spears was to have longer visits with her children.

The change, he said, was “recognition of the progress that has been made, a progress in structure and stability.”

Lynne Spears, the mother of Britney Spears and Jamie Lynn Spears and OK! were amongst the early morning crowd waiting outside the Today show studios in NYC’s Rockefeller Center to hear the New Kids on the Block perform together for the first time since 1994.

The mother of two of this year’s biggest headline-making stars headed to the special VIP area, where sources tell OK! she was a guest of the reunited boy band. Unfortunately, neither of Lynne’s two concert companions were her daughters.

After all, Britney is busy vacationing in Costa Rica with Mel Gibson, while Jamie Lynn is home in Kentwood, La., awaiting the imminent arrival of her first child.

So why on earth would the middle-aged Lynne be backstage at a New Kids concert? Turns out that Britney used to be managed by NKOTB manager Johnny Wright.

According to The National Enquirer, a Hollywood dinner on May 8th was just one in series of meetings between the pop and the Maloof Brothers, who own the famed Palms.

“Britney is working very hard to get in shape and hopes to make a splashy comeback in Las Vegas,” says an Enquirer snitch. “She wants the show to be full of high energy and flashy costume changes.”

Britney could be in for a $10 million payday if the singer’s management team can convince the Maloofs to hire her. If those shows are sell-outs, the former teen idol could be land a longer contract for performances.

Britney’s hoping that the predictable schedule of a nightly show will help her balance performing and motherhood.

She was seen riding an ATV, frolicking in the surf, and smoking a cigarette. The suspicious stomach that’s caused so much speculation was in full view, and from some angles she really does look pregnant with her third child. If that’s the case, at least she could stop smoking.
The Sun quotes a “spokesperson” as saying “I want to make completely clear that Britney is not pregnant. There’s not going to be a statement – she’s just not.”
